Student visa to travel to Australia: Learn about the new amendments
Learn about
the Australian Government's new student visa requirements for travel to
Australia, effective 1 July 2016.
Overview
of modifications
The
Australian Government has approved the simplified student visa framework (SSVF)
as of 1 July 2016. The framework is designed to facilitate the process of
applying for an Australian visa for students wishing to travel to Australia by
facilitating the search for students and
provide a more targeted approach to standardizing migration and reducing red
tape.
Here are the
highlights of the new changes:
Single
migration risk framework (financial requirements and English language
requirements)
The Single
Immigration Risk Framework applies to all international students, replacing
previous visa controls and evaluation-level frameworks.
Simplified
proof of proof
According to
the simplified student visa framework, students who are associated with the
lowest risk of migration will generally be required to provide simplified proof
requirements. This means that these students will have to satisfy the
Australian Government in terms of their financial capacity by providing proof
of that ability as well as providing an Acceptance Confirmation letter showing
the fulfillment of the English requirements required by the institution to
which they are enrolled in Australia.
Financial
capacity
According to
the simplified visa framework, students applying for a visa must have financial
resources available to finance their stay in Australia. Students who are
associated with a higher risk of immigration application - based on their
country of origin and the products of the immigration application collected
from the institution in which they are enrolled - will generally be required to
provide documentation proving their material capacity within the visa
application.
International
requirements for English
If English
proficiency is required, the IELTS score will be accepted as follows:
The total of
the IELTS 5.5 test
A total of 5
IELTS scores in case of intensive English language study for at least 10 weeks
A total of
4.5 IELTS scores in the case of Intensive English for at least 20 weeks
Proof of
enrollment in an institution
International
students from outside Australia must provide proof of enrollment in an
accredited course, the so-called confirmation letter, when applying for a
student visa to study in Australia.
